Good Thoughts
I haven't posted in forever. I don't think any of you read this anymore, and I can't say that I blame you. ...But I find myself in a bit of a predicament today and instead of finding a place on Craig's List to post this, I'd rather just put it out into the world this way. The month of April brought me a pretty special relationship. If you will join me in one of my many analogies, I'd like to have this relationship represented by a souffle. (sorry, no idea how to insert the accent mark). This brilliant, creative man-who-made-me-feel-more-amazing-than-anyone-ever-has-in-my-entire-life and I began baking this souffle. And the ingredients came together perfectly. Just the right amount of eggs and chocolate and sugar and whatever else goes in those things. And then we put it in the oven and it still came out beautifully. maybe a little lopsided but all puffed up and gorgeous. ...and then it collapsed. the bottom was too heavy and the top was too airy and it fell. but let's face it people! you can still eat that souffle! why should I throw it out? it's delicioius. and I worked hard at making it. and so did he. and it deserves a chance to be enjoyed.
...anyway what I really want to put out there is that I really really am sending my best good thoughts and positive energy to "you" and your exam today. Kick Ass! and then come back to me.

What kind of M&M are you?
I was thrilled to find that similar to the ever-popular Wii and the long standing tradition of The Sims M&Ms offer another type of alter-ego.
See for yourself.
I had a great time yesterday blowing off work and spending hours creating my family in M&M form. (I was sitting in my cube the whole time). This is especially hillarious because we have a certain affinity for M&Ms. My mother LOVES them. We always had them in the house. No party was thrown without the candy dishes of M&Ms. And for my parents' 40th Anniversary we (the kids) got them personalized versions. I think most of you know what my family looks like. You all saw the pic of my parents. They are the most successful transition I think. In the portrait below they are top left. and I am top right. Anyway, have a looksie...

Welcome to Hollywood!
Most of my loyal readers don't care about sports. And the ones that do don't care much for soccer. But I can NOT contain my excitement about the news that David Beckham signed a 5-year contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy. He and his wife Victoria along with their 3 kids are moving in about 6 months. This is truly incredible news on so many levels. First of all, as many people are saying, Beckham is the only person who can bring US Soccer to a level similar of the other major US sport leagues. In terms of revenue, attendance, buzz, respect, endorsements, celebrity culture, and all the other obvious categories soccer has been the forgotten stepchild when compared to football, baseball, basketball, etc. The US consumer market has just not been interested. Which has always been fascinating to me in light of two important facts. 1. Soccer (or Football) is the number one sport in the rest of the world. and 2. Everyone I know who played some sort of organized sports as a child played AYSO soccer. And I distinctly remember having a conversation -although I am not sure how long ago ( 2 years maybe?) or who with (my cousin? a blind date with a sports producer?) about those two facts and the disconnect they have with the reality of US sports. And how if Soccer was going to succeed that they would have to get Beckham to come and play. And HERE HE IS!!!!!!!!! The news is even more thrilling to me when you take into account a number of other personal factors like:
A. I grew up in Los Angeles
B. I have seen the L.A. Galaxy play
C. A very good friend used to work for the team.
D. I love the SPICE GIRLS -especially circa 1997 and first 1/2 1998
E. I am an anglofile
...Can't wait to see what Posh and Becks to the US!

Happy New Year -Cold F**king office
Everyone in my office likes to think I am crazy because I am always so cold. I happen to sit in a cube that gets the cross breeze from two air conditioners-- which, by the way, should not be on when it is below 70 degrees outside but I digress-- and this morning I walked in to find a present from some mystery coworker who has a Dilbert 2007 desk calendar. January 2 was amusingly appropriate for me. I now have it pinned upon the cube "wall."
