Surviving Saturn Return

Join me in all my adventures as I approach the big 3-0. The planet Saturn takes 29.5 years to orbit the Sun; when it returns to the exact degree along the ecliptic it occupied at the time of a person's birth this is referred to as Saturn Return. Saturn is associated with fear, confusion, difficulty, accomplishment, reflection, and maturity. Astrologers believe that the 30th birthday is a major rite of passage and marks the "true beginning" of adulthood.

You left out my favorite rain song -- "Soon It's Gonna Rain," from The Fantasticks. I also like "A Little Fall of Rain" from Les Mis (or should I say, Le Miserable?).

When I was in summer camp, one of the color war activities we would play on rainy days was this game where the counselor would call out a word, and each team would have to sing a song that included that word. The teams would alternate songs until one couldn't think of a new one -- making the other the winner of that round. You'd be good at that game!

Also there's this Mariah Carey song my mother and sister are obsessed with -- "Through the Rain."

    LAME LAME LAME.

How can you list 'Top 10 Rainy Day Songs' and not mention the perennial 80s favorite, 'The Rain' by Oran Juice Jones (you read that right, punks!)

    'I saw you....AND HIM....walking in The Rain....you were hol-ding ha-ands and I'll....never be the same....'

It's also got a great rant about her abuse of his credit cards, and the famous line of 'Silly rabbit, Trix are for Kids'.

    Classic
